What is amaro?

Amaro is a category of spirits first popularized in Italy — the name translates to "bitter." Amari tend to be low ABV, dry, and citrusy, varying in degree of bitterness. They're best enjoyed before or after dinner, on a patio, and especially with friends.

You can drink amaro:

  • As a shot

  • Neat or on the rocks

  • As a Shakerato, chilled

  • As a Caldo, served hot

  • As a Spritz
